Dear Editor,

I really enjoyed reading the return of The Sub Mariner. He is a great charactor and this is a great story.

Take care,

I read this comic when I was a kid at summer camp. It and a few others like it, changed my life for the better. When I read it today, I still get the same thrill I got all those years ago. It is amazing that a few men could churn out so much high quality children's literature on a monthly schedule. I am glad that with the movies coming out now Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko and the others are getting a little bit of the recognition they deserve.

The return of the anti-social amphibian! Prince Namor's back and he is NOT happy! The Torch returns an amnesia-addled Namor to the ocean where he regains his sense of self and discovers his undersea empire annihilated.

Declaring war on the Human Race, he returns with an army of mentally controlled sea monsters to total New York and is overcome by the FF.This was only the beginning of a long war Namor waged against the surface dwellers.

I remember the first time I read this story. If memory serves it was one of those Marvel Tresury editions that printed the comics in oversize. I know John Byrne did a retelling of this story in a special edition with paperback quality Baxter paper. Namor did make one of the best villians for the Fantastic Four to battle. I am surprised he didn't make more appearances.

What a classic issue of the FF series, featuring the return of the Sub-Mariner. I wasn't aware of the early appearances of this undersea prince as a super-hero when I bought FF #4 at the local store. I thought that he was a cool foe for the FF team, and I liked the Prince Namor-Sue Storm-Mr. Fantastic love triangle, even as a young kid. The FF issues featuring the Sub-Mariner were my favorites, with Dr. Doom coming in a strong second. Issue #6 teamed these FF foes, making that book a true Marvel classic! I had to pay a lot of cash to get a nice copy of this issue on today's collector market, but it's worth it! I'm just glad that I grew up during this great age of comic books, as I still fondly remember buying a stack of Marvels for under a buck!
