Dear Editor,
Rro was an interesting monster. He was a good variation on the movie monsters, not just a clone of Godzilla.
Take care,
Bob T.

This is my favorite monster cover. Kirby/Ditko at their best. Don Heck does a great job of illustrating Rro inside the issue. The cover kind of reminds you of Fantastic Four #1 a bit, no?

Hi Bill,
That is a great cover, but its not Kirby/Ditko. Its one of those rare solo Ditko covers (signed on the cover)

Ahh, ya gotta love Ditko… We need more Ditko (and Don Heck) monsters on this great site!
............. Bill Cox :: 30 December 2003
Yes!! A whole wing of this site should be devoted to those Lee/Ditko 5-pagers! No one could touch Sturdy Steve's odd creatures and odder stories! There are a number of Ditko stories that have never been reprinted—I hope to see a few presented here! Thanks for a fun site!

Hey Justin,
You're very welcome for the fun site! And thanks so much for the kind words of praise. Monster Blog can definitely grow to include more of the early monster stories by Ditko, Heck and others. But at the moment, my hands are full just trying to do justice to the work of The King. In the future…
NOTE: The cover story, “I Found Rro …The Thing From The Bottomless Pit!” by Don Heck, has never been reprinted and sports a lovely Kirby splash page (you're all welcome!).
............. Philip :: 07 January 2004
Gee, I was always hoping Marvel would do a sequel story, where Rro battled another monster—maybe something titled, “Rro vs. Waade—The Amphibian From Beyond!” (sorry, couldn't resist)
............. Justin Fairfax :: 02 March 2004
Kirby's 3D-effect on page 3 of Return of the Martian is awesome! Zatora practically leapes out of the panel and runs across the page!
............. Bill Cox :: 07 April 2004
Kirby was one of the innovators of 3-D comics back in the 1950's (see Captain 3-D)
............. John Kaminski :: 13 April 2004
it would have been cool if john warren,had stayed in zetoras body,become immunized and used its powers to become a super-hero,also wouldnt it be cool if it was retconned to say amanda,the witch in the story was really THORs villainess,the ENCHANTRESSit would be cool since,the names AMORAand AMANDA are similar,plus it would explain a few of the characters personality traits.and NO thats NOT KIRBYS WORK!! on ''Rro'' thats don hecks,but still you should might as well post the story anyway…the WHOLE story!!
