Noah
History: A strange old man moved into the desert town of San Pueres and began to build a boat. The old man was mocked by the townspeople because the town was hundreds of miles away from the nearest body of water. One day, a torrential rainstorm began. After days of pouring rain, the neighbor of the old man was shocked when he discovered the old man's name…”Noah”.
Height: 5 ft. 6 in.
Demonstrated Powers: Noah was a skilled boat builder who also had inside knowledge of an impending disaster.
Comment: This character should not be confused with the “Noah” who is the leader of “The Crossbreed” in Kurt Busiek's “Astro City” series.
Comment: This story was previously done (pretty much) in Astonishing # 49 - “The Sudden Storm” (May 1956) with the same surprise ending.

Noah also appeared in Astonishing#49, in a somewhat similar story.
Oddly, on Earth-616, when the Great Flood happened, there was an ark per Eternals I#2, but as revealed by Captain America Annual#11, the man in the ark was not Noah, but Utnapishtim from the Epic of Gilgamesh.

This was reprinted in the UK Alan Class comics. I'm surprised the tyrants at the Comics Code Authority didn't ban it because it featured a religious character!

So, this story's particular flood… was it of the world-ending variety? Was the two-of-every-animal plan implemented? It's not quite made clear how the boat came into play.

Dear Editor,
This story proves that what may seem crazy to some is really the best course of action.
One man's madness is another man's sanity.
