The Asylum Keeper

History: Dan Cooper was an American living in England. One night, while walking through a London fog, Cooper found himself transported through time to 16th Century London. With his talk of coming from the future, the townspeople thought Cooper to be a madman. Cooper was taken to a madhouse, where he was subjected to the cruelty of the Asylum Keeper. Eventually making his escape, Cooper ran away with the Keeper in pursuit. Once again running into the fog with the Keeper behind him, both Cooper and the Keeper emerged in the 20th Century. Because of his ravings when he found himself in this new world, the Asylum Keeper was taken away by authorities because they suspected him of being a madman.

Height: 6 ft.
Demonstrated Powers: The Asylum Keeper was an ordinary (but sadisitically cruel) human with no special powers.

Comment: The idea of travelling through time while walking through a mysterious fog can also be found in The Twilight World story.

Speculation - Cooper's time travel could have been caused by the manipulations of Immortus the Lord of Time (introduced in Avengers # 10) for some unknown agenda.
