The Blip
History: The first alien being known as “The Blip” was on a good will mission to a foreign star-system. On his voyage home , he was trapped in a space/time warp. Using most of his electrical energy to get free, the weakened alien landed on the nearest planet, Earth, where he first appeared as a strange “blip” on a radar screen. The Blip recharged his energies by absorbing electricity from the town of Oakville. Attacked by frightened townspeople, the Blip fought back in self-defense. Recharging himself fully on a dynamo, The Blip departed Earth, whose inhabitants he considered savage and uncivilized.
In modern times, Xemnu The Living Titan/Hulk manufactured duplicates of five monsters, including a duplicate the Blip, to fight The Incredible Hulk; the Incredible Hulk destroyed the Blip duplicate.
Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic of the Fantastic Four once created duplicates of four monsters, including a duplicate of the Blip, to battle Dr. Doom.
The dream demon Nightmare created duplicates of several monsters, including a duplicate of the Blip, to attack a young Peter Parker in his dreams.
In an as-yet untold story, a second Blip was stranded on Earth and apparently “died” (this alien had a much more aggressive personality than the first). In modern times, Frank Johnson (see Zzutak) acquired the remains of this second Blip and three other monsters. The monsters were revived to fight the Fantastic Four, and were defeated.
Height: 30 ft.
Demonstrated Powers: The Blip was an unsolid, sentient, living electrical field in a giant humanoid shape. The Blip could discharge lightning bolts from his “hands”. He absorbed electrical energy to feed himself, and could travel under his own power through space. The Blip was vulnerable to being grounded and being short-circuited.
Comment: It is unknown if there is any connection between either of the Blips and Zzzax (a similarly powered electrical monster introduced in The Incredible Hulk # 166) or the energy creatures or Erdile (introduced in Avengers (vol. 1) # 174).
Comment: There is no known connection between the Blips and power company spokestoon Reddy Kilowatt.

Umm, how does a living electrical plasma leave behind “remains” when it dies?
............. John M. Burt :: 28 March 2004
I suspect the so-called “remains” of these monsters were actually creations of Frank Johnson's enchanted paints.

Maybe the 2nd Blip was painted. But, Grottu the Gi-ant was real. Its disembodied intelligence fled into Scott “Ant-Man” Lang's cybernetic helmet, after the death of its original body. It remained dormant there, until catalyzed by a blast of energy from a stolen copy of the High Evolutionary's genetic accelerator. This, in turn, briefly resulted in
Ant-Man's mutation into the superhuman psycho: Myrmidon! That being said; Rorrg and the Two-headed Thing were probably real, as well.

Not a particularly intimidating name, is it?
............. Joe England :: 04 April 2006
Are you crazy Joe England? If I found out that something called “The Blip” was looking for me, I'd dive behind my sofa and hide in fear….
Ok maybe not.
