The Brute That Walks
History: A skinny, slight-of-build scientist created a growth serum to make himself more muscular. Upon drinking the serum, he was transformed into a giant, hairy, ape-like creature. Running amok through the city, he caused destruction until the effects of the serum faded and he returned to normal; he then destroyed his notes of the serum and presumably went on to lead a normal life.
Height: 30 ft.
Demonstrated Powers: The Brute posessed great strength; he could easily smash through brick walls. His tough skin gave him invulnerability to injury; bullets bounced off of his flesh, and being hit by a truck only caused him pain.
Despite the transformation, he still retained his normal intelligence and could still speak.

Obviously, John Avery took copious notes and/or tissue samples from the Roc, and passed them along to Howard and Victor, who each used them to create their respective flawed growth serums.

If John Byrne had kept Sasquatch's original origin(see the “appendix” at the back of Marvel Super-Heroes Contest of Champions#2(7/82)-Dr.Walter Langkowski,biophysicist:Canadian who drinks a serum to become a giant furry super-strong beast who retains his human intelligence) Sasquatch would have been a successor to the Brute That Walks.

This creature and Bruttu seem to be prototype Hulk origin stories, in that you have a skinny scientist becoming a powerful monster. The only differance is that these guys are gigantic while the Hulk was human sized.
