The Forbidden World
History: Some time in the future, a United Planets spaceship was exploring a sector of space when it came upon a world surrounded by a thick, green mist. Sensor scans indicated the planet was inhabited and was rich in raw minerals and vegetation. When the UP ship got near, they received a message from the planet, but their translator device malfunctioned, so the crew members could not understand the message. Missles were fired from the planet’s surface. Interpreting the missles as an attack, the crew-members prepared for a counter-attack. A lone crew-member was dispatched in a single-seater spaceship armed with nuclear warheads to bomb the planet. As the single-seater spaceship approached the green mist, the ship was disintegrated. In the main ship, the crew was at last able to translate the message from the planet, finding it to be a warning that the green mist was an anti-matter cloud which would destroy their ship, and that the missles were only fired to warn them away. The crew members then learned a valuable lesson in patience and tolerance.
