Meet... the Monster!

The Invaders

History: An elderly scientist, wishing for world peace, used a series of slides depicting alien spaceships with a special dimensional projector to flash images of an invasion fleet over the skies of Earth. The nations of the world put aside their national interests and banded together to combat the fake invasion. Missles were launched against the “ships”, but (being only projections) the “ships” were unharmed. With no other alternative, mankind abolished war and destroyed all weapons, hoping to show the “aliens” their good intentions. When the last of the weapons were destroyed, the scientist made the ships appear to fly away.

Length: The smallest of the dozens of “spaceship” projections appeared to be over 25 miles long.
Demonstrated Powers: Being only projections, the “spaceships” could not be harmed by missles, but were seemingly solid enough to appear on radar screens.

Comment: Another alien invasion hoax used to bring about world peace can be found in the story of Lo-Karr

It is possible that some of these alien-invasion-to-unite-humanity/bring-about-world-peace hoaxes take place on alternate Earths (how many times could everyone be fooled by this trick?)

Comment: These “Invaders” should not be confused with the aliens seen in Tales to Astonish # 34 (art by Steve Ditko).

Can A Comment Save the World?!?

This story taught a lesson. The free world and the communist world should work together because humanity inspite of philosophical differences must remain supreme on planet earth.
As it was stated in The Forbin Project (movie)…'despite our philosophical differences we agree man must remain man…” I see a similar sentiment for world peace in the story about Titan and the story about LoKarr. Many World War Two vets came home hoping we would have peace once and for all, rather than a third world war. These stories were done by people who either served or at least lived through the World War Two era hence I think these stories are a projection of that position for world peace.
Agreat story any way.
