The Living Totem
History: The Living Totem came to the deserts of the American south-west from mysterious origins. At some point, the Totem was trapped underground, where it slumbered in the depths, waiting to conquer the human race. In the 1800's, miners digging in a silver mine in the area awakened the Totem. The Totem climbed out of the mine to the surface world, where it crossed paths with The Rawhide Kid. The Rawhide Kid battled the Living Totem, and defeated it by blinding it with gunsmoke and pushing it into a bottomless canyon.
Years later, and now under the control of the criminal Iron Mask, the Totem climbed out of the crevasse and battled a team-up of the Rawhide Kid with other Western heroes and the time-travelling West Coast Avengers. The Living Totem was left buried beneath a rockslide.
Height: 15 ft.
Demonstrated Powers: The Living Totem had great strength, was sentient and apparently bullet-proof. The Living Totem's eyes were vulnerable to dust and smoke.
Stay back! Back!! It — It's impossible!! You can't walk!! You can't!!
Comment: The Living Totem should not be confused with The Totem creature from the stories “When The Totem Walks!” from Strange Tales # 74, and “The Return of The Totem!” from Strange Tales # 75 (both with art by Steve Ditko). Possible connection?
Comment: Speculation - The Living Totem could possibly be connected to Moomba or The Statue Gods.
Comment: The Living Totem should not be confused with the robotic Tomazooma the Living Totem (introduced in Fantastic Four # 80).

The Living Totem should not be confused with the Keewazi indian(a Comanche indian tribe) God (I say Eternal) named Tomazooma who also appears in Fantastic Four vol.1#80(11/68) and Thor vol.1#300(10/80).Tomazooma is not a Comanche word nor do they have any words that looks similar,so Tomazooma has to be an Eternal using size-changing technology to make himself taller (like Doctor Nemesis(Michael Craig Stockton) —-Marvel Feature vol.1#9(5/73)).He is also called the Living Totem and the Totem Who Walks.
