Meet... the Monster!

The Living Trees

History: In the year 2500, a spaceship from Earth was exploring the universe. Finding an uninhabited planet with nothing but lush vegetation, a four man exploratory team landed in a smaller ship while the mothership stayed in orbit. While on the surface, the explorers found no life forms, only plant-life. One by one, the men of the exploratory team began to disappear. When the mothership returned, searching for the team, computer analysis indicated the trees of the planet had nervous systems and were not rooted to the ground. The mothership scoured the planet in search of the missing men, and found the four men being held by trees. The mothership flew over the trees, using its hyper-afterburners at full blast to frighten off the trees. The mothership picked up the four men and headed back into space.

Height: 10 ft.
Demonstrated Powers: The animated trees were the dominant life-form of the planet, but displayed no special powers, technology, or civilization.

Comment: In present times, living tree invaders were encountered by hunter Frank Savage on Earth in Tales of Suspense # 10 in the story “I Was Trapped in Nightmare Valley” (art by Paul Reinman); could these trees be connected to The Living Trees of System 472?

Comment: It is unknown if the Living Trees have any connection to The Tree Alien or Groot.

Comment: It is unknown if there is any connection between The Living Trees and the H'ylthri - the sentient plant race living in the dimension of K'un-Lun (introduced in Iron Fist (vol. 1) # 2)

The Comet Pierce story in Red Raven Comics#1(8/40)has a Tree on Jupiter's moon Callisto that was crushing a Plutonian(like it was a boa constrictor)until Comet rescued him.Jess Nevin says the Plutonian was Boar-headed,I wonder if he could be one of the High Evolutionary's New-Men?
