The Molten Man-Thing
History: On the South Pacific island of Napuka, a dormant volcano erupted, unleashing a humanoid-shaped creature covered with molten lava. The Molten Man-Thing lumbered into a native village where it was seen by Frank Harper, a vacationing American pilot. Harper threw a spear at the lava man, but the spear melted before reaching it. The angered creature then followed Harper, who led it to an airbase, into a wind tunnel. Harper activated the wind tunnel, and the high winds it produced cooled the creature's body temperture. The Molten Man-Thing retreated back down the volcano.
In modern times, Frank Johnson (see Zzutak) used the last of his “enchanted paints” to create a duplicate of The Molten Man-Thing.
Height: 10 ft.
Demonstrated Powers: The Molten Man-Thing was not composed of lava, but was actually a creature surrounded by lava. It required great heat to stay alive, and could not stand intense cold. Anything coming into close proximity with the Molten Man-Thing would melt from the intense heat. From its great size, we can assume the creature had great strength, but it displayed no feats of strength to guage a strength level. The Molten Man-Thing showed no signs of intelligence. The creature's true appearance under the lava coating is unknown.
Comment: In the flashback story, changes were made through retroactive continuity. “Frank Harper” was revealed to be Makkari of The Eternals. It was also implied that the Molten Man-Thing and other Earth-bound monsters were the creations of Kro, warlord of the Deviants.
Comment: It is unknown if there is any connection between the Molten Man-Thing and The Lava Men (Molto first introduced in Journey Into Mystery # 97, the remaining Lava Men introduced in Avengers # 5)
Comment: It is unknown if there is any connection between the Molten Man-Thing and The Menace from Inferno Isle introduced in Tales to Astonish # 91.
Comment: It is unknown if there is any connection between the Molten Man-Thing and The Sub-Earth Man first introduced in Mystic Comics # 5.
Comment: It is unknown if there is any connection between the Molten Man-Thing and Metoxo the Lava Man, who, according to the “Next Issue” blurb in X-Men #48, would battle the Beast and Iceman in X-Men #49, but this story never actually appeared; years later, this story was finally told in Marvel Holiday Special 1994A.
Comment: “The Molten Man-Thing” should not be confused with Spider-man's nemesis, The Molten Man, introduced in Amazing Spider-man # 28.
Comment: “The Molten Man-Thing” should not be confused with the swamp monster called The Man-Thing first introduced in Savage Tales # 1.

The Molten Man-Thing could be a offshoot underground race of Lava Men who would go on to battle Thor and later the Avengers.
In DC's Tales of the Unexpected #22, Kirby experimented with these molten types in “Invasion of the Volcano Men”. As the story goes, the Volcano Men were misunderstood good guys who have come to the surface to warn mankind of the atomic dangers undeground.

Maybe the Molten Man-Thing was a Lava Man that Kro and the Deviants captured and mutated.

Who would win in a fight between the MOLTEN MAN-THING and the MAN-THING?

Marvel's second race of underground fire people was in MYSTERY TALES#23,in the story;''Burning Truth'',where Gerald Framson;an explorer discovers a race of fire people inside a volcano in the land of Krakatoa(!!!!!!!!!????!!!!!!!,X-fan's take heed.),He falls in love with Pyra,a female fire-person,but returns to England to be with His nagging wife, however exposure to the lava-people cause him to become one,and he unintentionally kills his wife in a fit of rage, the story ends on a melancholy note as he returns to the volcano to be with Pyra. This story could suggest that the Lava-Men are a tribe of mutated humans, kind of like how Eric Kane was turned into a Lizard Man,or possibly the Sub-Earth-Man was one too, maybe the Molten Man-Thing was the deformed, mutant son of Framson and Pyra, since The lava-people were peace loving, maybe they eventually rebelled against other Deviant mutates, after all,Molto was'nt all bad.
