Meet... the Monster!

The Two-Headed Thing

History: During a thunderstorm, the Two-Headed Thing tunnelled from the Earth's core to the surface, emerging near a prison. After accidentally releasing a prisoner, the Two-Headed Thing tested its shape-changing ability, first on a tree and then on an alligator. It then took on the form of the prisoner, but was stopped when it was struck by lightning and apparently killed.

In modern times, Frank Johnson (see Zzutak) acquired the remains of the Two-Headed Thing and three other monsters. The monsters were revived to fight the Fantastic Four, and were defeated.

Height: 20 ft.
Demonstrated Powers: The Two-Headed Thing was strong enough to tunnel through the solid rock of the Earth. Its powerful brain allowed it to communicate telepathically. The Two-Headed Thing was a shape-shifter and could alter its size, shape, and color to impersonate anything; additionally, anything it impersonated would vanish from existance (similar to the powers of The Space Phantom in Avengers (vol. 1) # 2) but would return once the Two-Headed Thing took on another form.

Comment: Since it came from beneath the Earth and was a shape-shifter, it is possible that the Two-Headed Thing was a mutate from the subterranean Deviant race.

Comment: The Two-Headed Thing looks similar to an early version of The Thing of the Fantastic Four.

Comment: “The Two-Headed Thing” should not be confused with The Thing With Two Heads (Ray Milland/Rosie Grier)

Can A Comment Save the World?!?

i wonder if the un-dead nasties on the cover of MENACE#1 were really somehow connected to this guy, after all,he DID have shape-shifting powers, and who better to trade places with than a bunch of dead guys?,never read that issue, but i think it deserves some looking into,ALSO THAT LIGHTNING BOLT…..isnt it coincidental it just happened to strike at the right time, when the same thing happened to ''BOMBU''?since, this took place after FF#1,i like to think it was THOR,or STORM,or maybe the sinister enric zagnar(golden age VISION foe)survived his accident and decided to use his powers over the weather to do good, and being incarcerated in the same prison as this story, decided to act?whatever, lightning and thunder are unpredictable, but not like that……….

…and speaking of coincidental lightning, what about that bolt that struck the villainous Dr. Strange in Tales of Suspense #41, turning the evil genius into and evil SUPER-genius?

obvously, the still behind the scenes STEPHEN STRANGE was pissed off about his name being used so gregariously………i think that zagnars spell book was the darkhold, and i just re-read bombu(no wonder he was censored on the original cover, that is one UGLY mug he has in the reprint)he brought that on himself…………ben franklin has nothin'on these guys……

Or that bolt of lightning could have come from the Eternals Makkari(aka Mercury aka Hurricane) or his father the golden age Thor(Captain America Comics#1(3/41) I have been trying to get Marvel not to waste this character on Zuras) .

Electro The Marvel Of The Age fought A Two Headed Monster in Marvel Mystery Comics#10(8/40).
