Torr

History: When Torr's spaceship landed on Earth, he followed a radio beam to an observatory and captured two scientists: Paul Ramsey and John Carter. Torr exchanged personalities with Carter's body, so his mind now inhabited Carter's body while Carter's mind went into Torr's body. With Ramsey accompanying him, Torr/Carter went to New York City to study mankind. He told Ramsey of his plans to conquer Earth and make it into a slave world. Ramsey grabbed a policman's gun and shot “Carter”, actually killing Torr's personality. Shortly thereafter, Carter's body came back to life as his personality returned to it. Both men then went to view the remains of Torr.

Height: 8 ft.
Demonstrated Powers: Torr was strong enough to smash through a door. He was resistant to injury when shot in the chest with a shotgun. Torr could communicate with mental telepathy, and could mentally exchange his personality with other beings, thus gaining control of their bodies (his will was strong enough to command the personality that would then inhabit his own body).

• Hypno-illusion capsules - vapors cause nightmarish hallucinations

Comment: Torr's personality-exchange ability was similar to a mental technique that Dr. Doom once learned from The Ovoids (see Fantastic Four # 10). It is unknown if there is any connection between Torr and the Ovoids.

Comment: “John Carter” is not to be confused with the character of the same name created by author Edgar Rice Burroughs, who appeared in a series published by Marvel.
