looks like the ol' Comics Code Authority took control of the last two panels of “The Man in the Crazy Maze” There is some different sloppy lettering and redrawing, as the criminal was supposed to be going to hell and criminal was facet to face with the DEVIL! Cleaned up he is changed to the man called FATE!

There was a similar situation that happened with the Lee/Ditko 5-pager “Masquerade Party” (Strange Tales #83, reprinted in Chamber of Chills #16), in which a cold and callous woman meets a charming guy with a devil mask at a masquerade party and at the stroke of midnight when everyone unmasks he tells her, “Mask—WHAT mask?” Inserted clumsily with non-Ditko art and bad lettering is a small panel showing a man holding up the devil mask, stating that he'd played a prank on her. Clearly a panel added at the bequest of the CCA—I guess any mentions of “hell” or “the devil” were no-gos at Marvel at the time!

I do recall the Ditko story “The Last Laugh” (from Tales to Astonish # 29) wherein a practical joker gets killed and finds himself in Heaven surrounded by angels, but the angels wings pop off and then the last panel shows cloven-hooved feet with a forked tail surrounded by flames and a word baloon asking the joker “What'samatter? Can't take a joke?”
