Can A Comment Save the World?!?

Dear Editor,
Grogg v. Fin Fang Foom. Please enlighten us as to the possibility of 1) A team up, 2) A fight or 3) a conflict with Dragon Man or some other bad guy.

Thanks,
Bob T.

I wonder why Grogg never had the fame that Fin Fang Foom had; consider Grogg appeared first and even made a return appearance, while Fin Fang Foom only appered once. Maybe it's just the weird name.

Is this issue of ST #83 available for sale anywhere?

Looks like Grogg stayed out in the sun a little too long and did`nt use enough sun screen either. It affected his color also `cause in his second appearance he turned green. But he was always modest enough to wear boxer shorts . But all fun aside , this is another fine example of Kirby`s monsters, the art as well as the story. Gotta love those scales, hornes and superficial wings. Kirbys covers were always laid out effectively. They were balanced and not overcrowded. The people ( masses ) that were shown walking, running , etc. were always drawn in a manner that looked like ordinary people( whether running for their life or after the monsters to ged rid of them ) They did get a lot of excersize running , I guess that`s why not too many of them were overweight…

Kirby was a not only a master of drawing a good story but also telling one .

In reference to the question asked by Tim Boo
Ba (14 August 2003 )( who by the way participated in an excellent Ditko story in A.A.F.) ,Grogg was a drink of some kind I think, but Fin Fang “Foom” went on to produce a fanzine in the `70`s. He worked out a deal withMarvel. A little bit of humor there….

Mighty fine site here with all these monsters…

I have a sneaky feeling that this or the re-print was the first comic I ever bought. This would have been in the mid to late sixties. Could any one please send me some scans. This is just incredible!

Love the site, thanks.

Another reason to truly thank the internet! Ages ago when I was 4 years old, I read a neighbour's comic that truly captivated me. I remember the title being “Where Monsters Dwell” and it featuring an orange biped dragon wreaking havoc on civilians and the military. I had not seen that comic in ever since, even when I became a serious comic book collector in my later years. I didn't remember Grogg's name and the number of the issue. I found references to Fin Fang Foom in Marvel memoraphilia and assumed that this long lost comic was about F.F.F.

When memories of this awesome orange horror stirred in my mind out of nowhere, I decided to do a search. I saw covers on Fin Fang Foom, and realized that maybe I was on the wrong track. Persistent searching and modifications enabled me to discover Grogg and the missing issue. Many thanks to your website for copying the cover onto here! Ahh, the memories!

I HAVE CARRIED THE GROGG NAME FOR OVER 60 YEARS, SURE HATE TO SEE IT LOOK LIKE IT'S A CARTOON CHARACTER.

MAYBE ALL THE FOLKS WITH THE GROGG LAST NAME, SHOULD FILE SUIT. AT LEAST THEY SHOULD BE PAID ROYALTIES. TRY THAT WITH ONE OF THE POLITICIANS NAMES AND YOU WOULD BE IN COURT VERY QUICKLY.
