Dear Editor,

I really love Iron Man. The first issue that I ever bought first hand was the one in which his origin was retold with different artists and modified verbiage.

I did read the original story reprinted.
The early gray Iron Man was cool.
His gray outfit was something, a ghostly
look. When he painted his suit gold I thought that was an interesting touch.

The red and gold Iron Man with no nose on the mask as portrayed in the early to middle 1970s was “my” Iron Man.

Take Care,

Bob T.

Dear Editor,

Perhaps the greatest Marvel character ever created. So much potential and so little done with the Invincible Iron Man. My first contact with the book was back in the summer of 1968 (at the age of 8) when my older (by 6 years) brother let me see his secret (comics were taboo to my mother back then) stash of DC and Marvel comics. I knew right away that the Marvel comics were superior. Somehow the writers made you 'care' about the characters. Tony Stark as Iron Man stood out to me. Here was a character that wasn't irradiated or bitten by something to get his powers, but was a 'self-made' superhero. Nearly as strong as the Hulk, and just as smart as Reed Richards. He was a multimillionaire and a chick-magnet too. I still have the TOS #39 issue my brother bought at the local newstand .

P.S.
If there is a motion picture ever made I hope they don't ruin it with the alcoholism or lackey of Kang storylines.

Sincerely,

Tim C.

I was a kid when I saw TOS #39 on the magazine rack of the local liquor store, and I was really disappointed. I liked the old monster stories, and TOS was the last Marvel comic book series that featured those crazy creatures as the main story. After I read the first Iron Man story, I was a dedicated fan. I bought all the early Iron Man issues, and I was never disappointed again. Tony Stark was a very cool character, and the early Iron Man was really a great super-hero. I don't own a copy of TOS #39 any longer, but I still have TOS #40, which was my favorite Iron Man story.

I just bought a coverless copy of TOS #39 at a good price. I didn't think that I would own this issue again, but it showed up on Ebay, and I was lucky enough to get it. The cover to this comic book is very cool, but I can live without it. Iron Man has always been one of my favorite Marvel super-heroes, so I really needed a copy of the key issue of the series. The old Iron Man really looked bulky in his original suit, but that's the one that I liked best. The early Iron Man stories are very cool, and I really like his battles with the commies. I'm just happy that I have a copy of TOS #39 again, and it's definitely a keeper for me!

it been said that UNCANNY TALES #52,which has a story called ''INSIDE THE IRONMAN'' is the ''oldest iron-man prototype'' it also has a story called''SPIDER MAN'' in #26,but i have seen scans of that issue in a fanzine(possibly AMAZING HEROES) and it is NOTHING that could even be considered even a passing prototype for spiderman, but i dont know about #52,can anyone clarify this,it would be greatly appreciated. by the way has anyone seen my brother TABOO? hes kind of mentally sick and has been wandering around the galaxy.
